Digital Media Cards

Multimedia Card (MMC)
Used in the current Sanyo ICR, Philips Pocket Memo, Grundig GH and Dictaphone Walkabout ranges. A typical recording time of 8 Minutes per MB is available without compression while 15-20 minutes per MB is achieved with DSS compression. MMC's are currently available with a capacity of up to 128MB and beyond, enough for 42 hours’ record time in some machines

Secure Digital (SD) Card
A machine with a SD socket will
accept both SD and MMC cards. SD cards incorporate data security features including a write prevent switch. Philips currently support the use of SD in some machines. SD capacities are available up to 1 Gigabyte (GB)

Smart Media (SM) card
Smart Media (SM) cards are currently used by Olympus in their DS 3000 range. DSS compression is used to attain 20 minutes per MB. SM card capacities are also available up to 128MB and offer similar functionality to MMC's
